On 30 May 2020, the validity of the root certificate AddTrust External CA Root from Certification Authority Sectigo (formerly Comodo) expired, as well as intermediate certificates USERTrustRSA and Comodo RSA CA, signed by this root certificate.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, major browsers have decided to temporarily extend support for legacy TLS 1.0 and 1.1 protocols. Similar plans have also been expressed by the developers of Firefox, Chrome and Edge.

Google Chrome developers have announced blocking of ‘mixed content downloads’ (when files on HTTP links are downloaded on HTTPS pages). This step is in line with Chrome’s earlier approach, blocking all non-secure resources on HTTPS pages.
